I have Mathematica 4.0 on a Mac G3 500 with OS 9.04.
Some Log functions solve other just reprint Log and the
input with no error messages.

Here is an example of what it does with the online help
example:

Unfortunately the graphics PICT don't copy, so here is
formated text output
In[15]:=
\!\({Log[\(-1\)], \ Log[0], \ Log[1], \ Log[e], \ Log[e\^2], \
Log[2]}\)
Out[15]=
\!\(\*
RowBox[{''{'',
RowBox[{\(\[ImaginaryI]\ \[Pi]\), '','',
InterpretationBox[\(-?\),
DirectedInfinity[ -1]], '','', ''0'', '','', \(Log[e]\), '','',
\(Log[e\^2]\),
'','', \(Log[2]\)}], ''}''}]\)
