Given the case I have an image im Mollweide projection, where

x = (2 Sqrt[2])/π \[Lambda] Cos[θ];
y = Sqrt[2] Sin[θ];
2 θ + Sin[2 θ] == π Sin[φ];

example:

and I want to transform it Mercator format,

example:

how can I do this? I only found http://bit.ly/11iDdyC but there was no solution to the problem.

Any geographers here?
