I think that will require assignment statements for a and/or b. If c changes, do you want a to change, b to change, or both?

I was given this code for a simpler problem, z < 1+x+y. Notice the invisible variable.

Manipulate[
s=x+y;
z= Min[z,1+s],
{x,0,1},{y,0,1},{z,0,1+s},
{{s,0},ControlType -> None}]
