You can do it with the ContourPlot3D function like this.

<< Graphics`ContourPlot3D`
ContourPlot3D[3 x^2 + 4 y^2 - z^2, {x, -3, 3}, {y, -3, 3}, {z, -3, 3},
Contours -> {12}];
