Why don't I get numerical answers for the following:

u = 3
m = 1
e = 100
NSolve[{v1 == -v2/2, 3 u^2 + 3 e/(2 m) == v1^2 + 2 v2^2}, {v1, v2}]

I get:

{{v1 -> -((0.408248 Sqrt[2.71828 + 2. m u^2])/Sqrt[m]),
v2 -> (0.816497 Sqrt[2.71828 + 2. m u^2])/Sqrt[m]}

and the same thing with the signs swapped
