A or B give what I expect, but C ?? I see what's happening but it seems very inconsistent. What general rule of how Mathematica evaluates am I overlooking? Thanks.
A.
f1[x_] := Log[2 x]
f1'[x]
1/x
or
B.
D[Log[2 x], x]
1/x

C. ???????
Log'[2 x]
1/(2 x)

Same ??? for
Log'[x^2]
1/x^2
