 Author Comment/Response Jose E Calderon 06/29/13 10:43am I found this node from a notebook published in Demonstration Projects located at http://demonstrations.wolfram.com/ConstantCoordinateCurvesForEllipticCoordinates/. Here is the code. I am using Mathematica 9.0 on Win 8.0: Manipulate[ DynamicModule[{a,\[Xi],\[Eta]}, a=R/2; {\[Xi],\[Eta]}=fromCartesian[a,pt]; ParametricPlot[Evaluate[{Tooltip[toCartesian[a,{\[Xi],\[Eta]Func[t]}],"\[Xi] constant"],Tooltip[toCartesian[a,{\[Xi]Func[t],\[Eta]}],"\[Eta] constant"]}],{t,-tmax,tmax}, PlotRange->{{-15,15},{-10,10}}, Ticks->False, AxesLabel->(Style[#,Italic]&/@{"x","y"}), PerformanceGoal->"Quality", Prolog->{PointSize[0.02],Point[{a,0}],Point[{-a,0}]}, Epilog->{Transparent,PointSize[0.1],Tooltip[Point[pt],pointLabel[{\[Xi],\[Eta]}]]}, PlotStyle->Thick, ImageSize->500, PlotLabel->"elliptic coordinates (\[Xi], \[Eta])"]], {{pt,{1.88,-4.11}},{-20,-20},{20,20},Locator}, {{R,10.,"interfocal separation"},0.001,20.}, SaveDefinitions->True] But when I copy paste into my Mathematica notebook, I get the following error Set::shape: Lists {\[Xi]\$6108,\[Eta]\$6108} and fromCartesian[5.,{1.88,-4.11}] are not the same shape. >> ParametricPlot::plln: Limiting value -tmax in {t,-tmax,tmax} is not a machine-sized real number. >> Set::shape: Lists {\[Xi]\$7073,\[Eta]\$7073} and fromCartesian[5.,{-5.22,0.}] are not the same shape. >> ParametricPlot::plln: Limiting value -tmax in {t,-tmax,tmax} is not a machine-sized real number. >> Set::shape: Lists {\[Xi]\$7073,\[Eta]\$7073} and fromCartesian[5.,{-5.22,0.}] are not the same shape. >> ParametricPlot::plln: Limiting value -tmax in {t,-tmax,tmax} is not a machine-sized real number. >> Set::shape: Lists {\[Xi]\$10481,\[Eta]\$10481} and fromCartesian[5.,{-4.13,4.5}] are not the same shape. >> ParametricPlot::plln: Limiting value -tmax in {t,-tmax,tmax} is not a machine-sized real number. >> URL: http://me.uprm.edu,
