In Mathematica, how do I produce an associated Legendre polynomial? I know that the formula is LegendreP[n, a, x], but I'm trying to reproduce the associated Legendre polynomial for the bound states of Sech[x]^2 as seen on:

LegendreP[n,a,Tanh[x]] produces a result that does not involve any complex numbers.

Thanks.
