I am trying to solve the 1-D heat equation on a semi-infinite strip, ie: x =0-> inf.
In the first instnace I just want to get Text book answers from Mathematica. But I can't seem to do that even.
I have tried using NDSolve but it seems that I must have finite boundary conditions eg T[x=5,t=0]=0 rather than T[x=inf,t=0]=0, which is what I want.
Am I using the wrong function?
Documentation on NDSolve (and PDE's )is a bit vague as to what conditions can be used with this function.
Hope to hear from someone. Bye for now
