I am making a ListPlot and am using the option AxesLabel to draw labels for the axes. However, due to the nature of the work I am doing, I would like the axes labels to appear in the middles of the axes rather than at the ends. According to the documentation for AxesLabel, "By default, axes labels in twodimensional graphics are placed at the ends of the axes." This seems to imply that there is some way to override this default and cause axes labels to appear in the middles of the axes. If it is indeed possible to make axes labels appear in the middles of the axes in two-dimensional graphics, how would I go about doing this?

Thanks in advance.
