Here are a couple of other things to try:

Delete the FrontEnd preferences file, init.m
and the FrontEnd Caches folder. The locations
of these files are listed near the bottom of

http://support.wolfram.com/mathematica/interface/customize/corruptpreferencescache.html

If you tried rebuilding the help index with the
Help Browser open. Try doing it with the
Help Browser closed.
