I normally type up notes for my courses in a wordprocessor, then search/replace shorthand terms with sybols and operators.
When trying insert with palettes in Mathemtica, I end up with stuff like this: \!\(\^\) for an X^2.
When I open a new .nb document I do not have this problem, but since I end up typing most of this on my laptop in class, I am using a word processor.
How do I perform normal search and replace options on formerly text documents? Do I need to convert the document to a specific format?
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Chris
