Is it possible to define simple piecewise functions? I've read in the book that it is possible with the UnitStep function, but is it possible to simply define it with inequalities. For example:

y(x) = 1 if x < 0
y(x) = 2+x if x>0
y(x) = 5 if x=0

without having to use the UnitStep function?
Thanks to everyone.
