I have encountered a problem which has been asked many times here already. I want to tell Mathematica 5.1 that some symbol. say a, is a constant and let it treat it same as other constants throughout the evalutation. I have tried many options including SetAttribute[] command but all of them don't seem to work. I am desperate to know the right way to do it. Can anyone give me a hand in the regards? Many Thanks.
