I want to assign an unknown negative value to a certain symbol, in order to be able to evaluate the sign of complex expressions of single symbols with the help of function "Sign[complex expression of symbols]", whereas the "complex expression of symbols" is for example the determinat of a Jacobian matrix in terms of symbolic derivatives.

Even so it is not always possible to determine the sign of such complex expressions of single symbols, whose value is only given in terms of "below zero" or "above zero", sometimes it is and in all other cases it would be of great value for me to know this.

Thanks a lot for help!!!
Rainer
