The University of New Mexico College of Engineering will offer a three-day workshop on Computer Algebra Systems emphasizing Mathematica. The workshop will take place August 2-4, 1993. The course will be taught by three experts in computer algebra systems, Professors Eric Nuttall and Stanly Steinberg of UNM, and Dr. Michael Wester, of Cotopaxi. The course begins with an overview of the various major computer algebra systems (CASs) and an introduction to what kinds of problems can and cannot be solved with them. This will be followed by an in-depth discussion of the CAS Mathematica with live demonstrations of Mathematica's key functions and operations, Practical experience in solving engineering problems will be provided along with actual student hands-on training and tutorials. The course is intended for professionals who are required to perform a wide range of numerical, symbolic, and graphical analyses, and is suitable for both beginners and advanced users of Mathematica.
