Hallo Mma-Users

I would really appreciate, to have access to a kind of file,

in which Wolfram Research describe the Bugs of the different
Versions of Mma.
If I know of a bug in a certain function, then I can avoid to use it
and I will be able to check the critical parts on reliability.
If I don't know about the already known bugs, I could lose a
lot of time, unnecessarily.

I would suggest, that WR install a Directory on MathSource called
 "KnownBugs".
In this directory I could find files like
  "Known_Bug_in_Mma_2.x.x_Version.yyy"
which contain the most recent known bugs for a certain released
Mma Version.

In this File, I should find a description of the Bug, an short example
of it. Also this file should contain warnings, which functions could
also give wrong results. Maybe if it is possible this file should
also contain workarounds.

In this context, as Mma+ subscriber I would really like to get informed of
known bugs in my currently used version of mma. My suggestion would be
that Wolfram Research gives Users, who have access to E-mail, the

opportunity to subscribe the description of the most recent found bugs

in their Version. Then Mma+ subscriber or maybe everyone should be
able to subscribe the mailing-list e.g. mma_bugs_221.

Maybe there are not too many bugs in mma, but this procedure would
give me a better feeling and would improve my trust in Mma.

I hope that other MathGroup reader agree with me and that WR will be able

to extend their support in this direction.

Best wishes

  Erland
