This may be simply a font configuration problem.  The cause for this may
vary from system to system.  See the FAQ at URL:

http://www.wolfram.com/support/Systems/Windows/FE/FontsNotWorking.html

for more info on how to handle this problem under Windows.

An explanation for the character substitutions that you're seeing has
been posted to this newsgroup several times before.  You can retrieve
one such posting at Deja News (http://www.dejanews.com), using the 
author/subject search flags:

	~a(P.J. Hinton) ~s(key entry problems)

The search should be done in the old news archive, not the current one.
