TELLING PROGRAM THAT A VARIABLE IS AN INTEGER

How do I tell Mathematica to regard a variable,n for example, as an

     integer. Hence, things like Sin(n Pi) = 0. I read 'n' books,
pardon
the pun, and still couldnt glean out the answer. In frustration I
just
gave up. Thank God for Mathgroup!

Also why is Simplify not built into operations automatically? Some

problems I double check by looking for zero as the solution but
dont
get that value until I add Simplify to the operation.

thanks. Jerry Blimbaum US NAVY LAB, PANAMA CITY FLORIDA
