Pb with finding a residue

  Hello,

  Mathematica fails to find a residue in some very simple cases, and I
would be very glad if someone could tell me how Mathematica can find
residues in such cases.  The problem can be easily seen in the two
following lines:

\!\(Residue[1\/\(z\_12 - a\), {z\_12, a}]\)

\!\(Residue[
    1\/\(z\_12 - \((\(I\ E\_n12\)\/\(-I\))\)\), {z\_12, 
      \((\(I\ E\_n12\)\/\(-I\))\)}]\)

The two cases are simple and only the first one is successfully computed
by Mathematica.  The problem is that I need a *general* procedure that
would allow correct computation in any such simple cases.

  Any help would be appreciated...
