Phil,

You didn't say why you are studying calculus, so it is a little hard to
give you advice. However, if you are planning to major in a science,
math, or engineering you will find Mathematica to be a very useful
tool. More specifically, "Calculus Wiz" and books such as "Animating
Calculus" by Wagon and Packel will definitely give you a deeper
understanding of calculus. The things you will be able to do "beyond
the textbook" will let you run circles around most other students, and
maybe even the professor! Good luck with your studies.
