Why does the following lock up my iMac Mathematica 3.0.1.1x with 900 MB
vrtual storage for the kernal?

sq[x_] := time[x,x]
eqq = sq[{a,b,c,d,-a-b-c-d}]
Simplify[Solve[eqq=={-1,-1,-1,-1,4}]]
