Apparently this didn't come up in our internal testing either. Well, that's alpha software for you. I'll go and figure out how to make it work on a Mac. In the meantime, you can always use the command NotebookPut[Notebook[ConvertWorkSheet["filepath"]]] with the full pathname to the worksheet. See the examples in the manual.
