Mojca,
We can get
alpha by typing either
escape a escape (an alias) or \[Alpha] (its name)
capital alpha by
escape A escape or \[CapitalAlpha]
theta by
escape th escape or \[Theta]
capital theta by
escape Th escape or \[CapitalTheta]
etc.
You can find all these and much more by going to
File > Palettes > Complets Characters > Letters > Greek
Placing the pointer over a letter will show an alias and the name on the
bottom bar.
Note also the Script, Gothic, Double-Struck and Extended Latin alphabets.
