For the speed-up of MathLink, I have a few comments for that,
(1) For Linux, use Pipe instead of TCP, it is more than 10 times faster.
(2) For Mac, there is a magical bug of MathLink with MacOS. MacOS 8.5 or
later
are slow on MathLink about 5 times than before.
(3) For Windows, FileMap is faster than TCP.(I don't measure how much...)

Linux Pipe took less than 1 sec for 600000 integer list transfer on my
140MHz PC.
Mac with OS7.6 took 2 sec for 600000 integer list transfer.(G3)
