I don't know the solution, but I have experienced a similar
problem after importing Mathematica graphics into MSWord
and then printing to a file with a postscript driver. The
postscript driver converts some Greek characters to Roman,
such as rho->r within the graphics. This happens using the
Apple Laserwriter (PS) driver on a PC.
