While on this subject:  I recently generated a Plot{], added some 
boldface text with Graphics[Text[--]], positioned it within the plot.

As seen on screen the text was definitely within the plot region -- not 
only within the outer boundaries of the box that shows up when you click 
on the plot, but within the limits of both axes of the plot itself.

When printed the text had expanded in width and was cut off at the 
right-hand edge of the printed plot (which was still well within the 
printing area of the paper)..

Mac G3, System 8.6, Mathematica 4.0, LaserWriter 12/640.  Definitely not 
WYSIWYG.
