restarting kernel

I wonder if it is possible to restart the kernel without using
Kernel->QuitKernel->local and then again Kernel->StartKernel->local. In
another system you can use "restart". Is it normal to have to restart the kernel
every time if one is trying out a new program (else the kernel showed me
some results of the previous input instead of the new ones).
