Subject:	[mg27589] Problem with N?

Does anyone have problems with evaluating N[Pi, 299] or higher precision?

I can evaluate everything up to N[Pi, 298], but anything higher than that
doesn't evaluate and semicrashes Mathematica. For example, after attempting
N[Pi, 299], lower precisions which previously evaluated, no longer evaluate.

What is even worse, when I bring up Help and go back to the regular
notebook, scrolling and other display features no longer work properly.

This is Version 4.0.2 on Windows 98.
