Thank you all for being patient.

My own solution was poorly written in that I had neglected to comment my code or document its development.  It was clear that I needed to include these aspects before posting.

I decided it was now better to do a complete the job, therefore I took the time to add "pretty" formatting of both code and output, and to revise sections of my code for easier reading.  While working on this I became distracted with additional tools, namely an iterative search and a tracer.  I include both.  All this did take some time, but I became preoccupied with other activities in between and allowed it to take much longer than required.
