Parallelization of non-vector functions

It seems that most of the automatic parallelization provided by the grid edition are of vector functions, where there are no dependancies between the elements. Has anyone seen/written anything that uses the message-passing functionality to implement more interesting automatic parallelization? Regards, Mark
