In version 6, wrap your plot statement within a Print function as in the 
following example:

a[] :=
  Module[{},
   Print["I'll be good!"];
   Print[Plot[Cos[x], {x, 0, 10}]];
   Print["Fine,me too"];
   ]
a[]

I'll be good!
[... graphic deleted ...]
Fine,me too
