The issue is related to how Thunderbird handles emoticons (or smilies). To fix it, in Thunderbird 2.0, go to menu Tools -> Options -> Display -> Formatting -> Plain Test Messages -> uncheck the box "Display emoticons as graphics". Regards, -- Jean-Marc
