Default font does not look good

I just upgraded from Mathematica 5.0 to 6.0 on a Mac running MacOS 10.4. I find the default font in notebooks is not as crisp as it used to be -- less readable. Are fonts rendered differently in 6.0? How do I get the Mathematica 5.0 look back? Thanks, Tony
