for this particular example the following works:
Plot[Sin[x], {x, 0, 4 Pi}, AxesOrigin -> {0, 0}, Axes -> {True, True},
PlotStyle -> Thick,
Filling -> Axis, FillingStyle -> {Blue, Red},
ImageSize -> {380, 280}]
