Hi John,

I have just checked all four plots in the exact order you did and each  
gave the expected plot.

Since my OS & Mathematica version seem to be identical to yours (with the  
possible exception of Mathematica 64 bit in my case, and I have a MacBook Pro)  
I can only point you to using  a 64 bit kernel if you are not already  
doing so.
