Hello,
in order to obtain a meaningful result, you have to specify the right
number of boundary conditions. As you explained in your posting, you
need 3 boundary conditions. This doesn't only apply to solving the
system by the shooting method, but applies to every possible method,
also to solving it analytically.
If you don't have the right number of BCs, you haven't specified your
system correctly, so you should definitively ask your advisor.
