A programmed solution is shown in the following example
p = Plot[Sin[x], {x, 0, 2 \[Pi]}];
c = Cell[BoxData@ToBoxes[p], "Output", GeneratedCell -> False,
CellAutoOverwrite -> False];
CellPrint[c];
