Hello,
you also obtained some answer to your question in sci.math.

Just that the imaginary unit shows up in your results, doesn't imply
that the result is really complex, just apply the N operator.

You could also apply ComplexExpand and then FullSimplify to your result.
(When I applied FullSimplify directly, I get
{{x -> Root[2 - 15 #1 + #1  & , 3]},

                              3                                   3
>    {x -> Root[2 - 15 #1 + #1  & , 1]}, {x -> Root[2 - 15 #1 + #1  & ,
>    2]}}
which isn't, what I would expect.
