I believe that XCode 4.1 for Lion is now free and I believe that the
compilers are installed with an installation of XCode...

I haven't installed Lion yet since I use Eudora and can't find a
better email client ... and Eudora is PowerPC... :-(

I upgraded to Lion this morning, then on a lark tried to compile a function in Mathematica with CompilationTarget -> "C". I got an error that no compiler was found.

I have not tried either, since I am not using anything but opcode compilation. If you are successful, please post instructions for others on this group.
