If Mathematica dispensed with the requirement that all input be in
bold-faced type, this would make it possible to have the extremely helpful,
time-honored convention of bold-faced for vectors and matrices versus
regular face for scalars. In general, it would enable doubling of the number
of characters available for distinct symbols.

This goes even more for allowing Unicode symbols fonts to be used. This
would multiply the characters set many-fold.
