Hello,

I have an expression of the form N[a,b,c]/D[a,b,c] with a, b and c some parameters on which N and D depend. I have to transform it into something like A[a,b]/c with A that does not depend on c. Is there any function in Mathematica that can do that?
Thanks a lot for any help.

Francesco

Hi, Francesco,

To my knowledge there is no such function that will do it for any N and D. It is for the reason that the statement of problem you give above is much too general. Indeed, such a representation N[a,b,c]/D[a,b,c]= A[a,b]/c does not exist for any N and D, but only for some their combinations.

However, if the expression N[a,b,c]/D[a,b,c] may be represented in the form you need, then it can be done within Mathematica. Whether or not it be easy, is another question. I suggest that you give the expressions in the explicit form.

Have fun, Alexei
