Using same $UserBaseDirectory for Mac & Windows versions

What are the implications -- especially, negative -- if I try to use the 
same location within the Mac OS X file system as $UserBaseDirectory for 
(a) the OS X version of Mathematica, and (b) the Windows version of 
Mathematica running in a Parallels Desktop Windows virtual machine (in 
coherence mode -- so that Windows can "see" and share the Mac file 
system)?
