Difference equations

Dear Mathgroup,

I am working on a statistical problem to find the moments of a
distribution, and this lends itself to a recursive solution of the
problem.  I have set this up as a first order non-homogeneous
difference equation.

Does anyone know of any Mma package that will solve difference
equations?    Any tips would be most appreciated.
