ListPlot with legend

Dear mathgrouper,
does anybody knows how to put more set of data in the same plot (this task is
easy, for instance using many times ListPlot[data,DisplayFunction->Identity]
and then using Show[%%,% ....,DisplayFunction->$DisplayFunction]) and further
draw the legend ? 
PlotLegend seems to work only with functions not with data.
Furthermore does anybody knows how to obtain underscore and upperscore in the
labels?
I remember that problems like this (or may be the same problem) were already
posted to the group, but I do not remember the answer nor were to find them.
