4th degree polynomials

Is mathematica capable of solving general 4th degree polynomials???
Specifically, I am trying to find symbolic eigenvalues of a 4x4 matrix, but
mathematica has been running for hours on this. Is it worth continuing???

Any info gratefully received,
Jason
