Significant Figures

	I recently upgraded to version 2.2.3 for Windows.  My old version 
2.0 programs gave me real number output to a file of 8 digits using the 
CForm[] function.  The new version gives me 18 digit numbers.  Only 3-5 
digits are significant. How can I output smaller (digitwise) numbers to file?
