queries on new 3.0?

Can anyone tell me how to get 3.0 to properly update text cells
containing (*xxxxx*) from 2.2.2 to 3.0?  I lose everything.  When I
try to paste text into the NULL that was left in the 3.0 document, I
get a fatal error.  Any hints?
