Answering my own question...

Yes, in Mma 3.0 something like the following works.

In[7]:=
unts = Table[{y, E^y},{y,0,2  Pi,1}];

In[6]:=
Plot[Sin[y], {y,0,2 Pi}, Frame -> True, Axes -> False, 
  FrameLabel -> {"x", "y", "z", ""}, 
  FrameTicks -> {Automatic, Automatic, unts, None}]


You must simply replace "unts" with a list of values from the function x[n].
