Hello,
we have an obnoxious Mathematica 2.2 problem on NeXTSTEP 3.3/Intel.
While all is fine on black hardware, we cannot connect
the notebook to a local kernel on Intel.
This is the same either for Mathtalk or for Mathlink protocols.
(However, running math in a local shell window,
or connecting to another type of machine [HP], is no problem.
It is thus definitely not a network license problem.)
More precisely, the kernel does start,
but never connects (Mathtalk V2.1), or, under
MathLink2.2, it gives "kernel interrupt".
It then hangs when one tries to evaluate some input.
The processes listed by ps -aux
look the same as on Mma2.2/NS3.3/Motorola
(which works fine), but then it does not connect:
In the "kernel and tasks..."
menu the kernel is seen to start with bold
In[1]:=
but it does never switch to the unbold
In[1]:=
which it does for Mma2.2/NS3.3/Motorola.
I used the updated mathclient program, and also tried
various ways to call the kernel via rsh etc - nothing
works.
Did anybody else experience this and knows how to resolve it ?
Hardware is Intel VS440FX PPro with Adaptec 2940U.
Thanks,
W. Lerche
